Why this Book?

You have completed the book review. You have chosen your book. ...but why? What drew you to this story or this particular book?

The theme of our "Senior Read" unit is the idea of "Windows and Mirrors". Would you say that this book acts as a window or mirror for you? No need to give specific reasons (as it may be personal) just let your fellow reader know how this book functions for you.

  1. I chose this book because it seems very interesting and I would love to know what someone else goes through that I do not go threw. This book is a window to me because the events that go on in this book is nothing that I have been threw.

  2. I have chosen this book because it involves a nurse, specifically a nurse in a legal situation because she didn't know how to act. Well, she did, but she didn't know if she should act and face other problems. I think this book will be a window as I am not a medical professional, nor am I African-American facing racism. I have also never faced a situation in which I need to save a life, a baby especially, but the parents didn't want me to touch their kid. I might be able to relate to some things eventually, but for now I think it will be a window.

  4. I chose this book because I thought the summary on the back was interesting. I couldn't imagine how someone could feel when they dont want someone to be around them because of there color of their skin. This book is a ¨window¨ for me because I have never experienced this before.

  5. I choose this book because I had friends that read it last year. It seemed very interesting. I work with small children so I know what I would do in this situation. However I do want to see how the main character will react. This book I have chosen the window because I have never experienced racial prejudice.

  6. The problem is my story is decriminalization and dealing with the law. My main characters name us Ruth. Ruth is African American and the only one on her pavilion in the hospital. It all started out when Ruth was assigned to this baby named David. As Ruth was checking David out and making sure he is ok. The parents asked to have Ruth removed because of her color. Well before Ruth was removed , Ruth noticed David had a heart murmur. Ruth did not know if the heart murmur was something that would go away as he got older or would stay with him.Later on, Ruth was in with the babies and noticed David was going into cardiac arrest.Ruth was told clearly, TO NOT TOUCH THE BABY. Ruth hesitated at first , then she started to do CPR on the baby. The baby dies.. The parents claims it was Ruth's fault that the baby died and now she is about to go to jail.
