What's the Problem?

Discuss the problems that the main character faces within your book. What do those problems look like? Is it an external problem, internal problem, or both? What causes the problem? How is the problem being solved...or is it not? Are other characters apart of the problem? Is this problem getting worse or better as you read?

Please explain yourself as if I have not read the book in no less than EIGHT sentences.

  1. The problems the main character faces in my book look like racial discrimination combined with legal criminal matters involving her job as a nurse. I would say that it is both an internal and external problem because of her beliefs before and during the problem and the actual problem going on. What causes the problem is the ignorance and prejudice of others and the ignorance of others not knowing what to do without causing more issues. The problem is being solved on one hand, but on the other hand it kind of isn't. A court date is needed to settle her first legal matter that within itself is a big cluster of questions and just total racism. Then another court date is needed with another attorney to start her lawsuit against the hospital and possibly the man who is trying to get her in trouble now. Other characters are for sure a part of this problem. The ones who think they are helping but are just making it worse, and the ones who just want to see the main character suffer for no fault of hers. The problem doesn't seem to be getting much better, but it also isn't getting worse. I'm not sure what to expect of it.

  2. The problems the main character faces is racism. The problems she is facing are external. Ruth is facing hatred just because of the way she looks. The problem doesn't seem to be getting any better. In my opinion I can see it getting way more worse than it already is. Right now Ruth is facing the worst problems. Some other people are involved but they aren't helping the situation. I can't imagine what else Ruth will go through in this story.

  3. The problem that my main characters faces is Ruth can´t help a baby at her job because she is African American. Another problem in the book is that Turk the babys dad doesnt like African Americans so that's why she wasn't allowed to touch the baby. She had to watch the baby one time and the baby started to have problems. Ruth knew she wasn't allowed to touch the baby but she did then she stopped because she remembered that she wasn't allowed. Then the other nurse came in and told her to do CPR. So she did. Then all the nurses came in and then the parents came in Turk and Brit, they saw that she was touching the baby and got upset, then the baby passed away. So those were some of the problems that happen to the main character.
